WOOLLEN GOODS
Talks On Duty Sought (N.Z Pres* Association) . DUNEDIN. June 23. A meeting between representatives of Federated Farmers, the Minister of Industries and Commerce and the New Zealand Woollen Mills Association to discuss the high customs duty on woollen goods is being sough! by Mr G. W. Lane, the association’s president. Mr Larre said this today when commenting on the resolution passed by the meat and wool section of Federated Farmers which asked the Minister for a re-apprai-sal of the import system. “Following a similar outburst some time ago by Mr A. C. Begg, the section chairman, my association issued an invitation to him to meet and fully discuss this important question of protection of the woollen industry. “This invitation was not taken up and I now renew the officer to Mr Begg and his vice-chairmen to be present at a full meeting of the association in Wellington on August 23. “An invitation will also be extended to the Minister of Industries and Commerce and the press,” Mr Lane said.
