Colt Sold To Australia

Negotiations were completed yesterday for the purchase of the three-year-old colt, Summit Road. The purchaser was the Sydney owner, Mr T. L. Sing, and the vendor was Mr A. T. Woolhouse, of Halswell, who has trained and raced Summit Road throughout his career. Summit Road was Mr Sing’s second purchase while on holiday in New Zealand The other was Early Star, a two-year-old Local Light— Early Hours colt, which was owned by the Yaldhurst trainer. A B. Holmes. Mr Sing, who returned to Sydney last evening, paid substantial four-figure sums for both horses. Summit Road has only one win on his record, the Golden Slipper Stakes at Waimate at his first start as a two-year-old. But he has performed consistently for 11 minor placings from 16 starts meantime. After his Golden Slipiper Stakes wih last season Summit Road was runner-up in five of his next six starts. His placings this season include a fourth in the Riccarton Stakes and a third in the New Zealand Metropolitan Challenge Stakes at the New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington in November. His stake earnings amount to £1665. Both Summit Road and Early Star will be shipped to Australia later this month by the National Mortgage and Agency Company. Ltd., which negotiated both sales
