JUNIOR CUP DRAW
Canterbury Has Bye Canterbury's team In the Junior National Cup competition, for players under 18. wll have a bye in the first round of the 1961 competition. This Information was contained In • circular from the junior council of the New Zealand Football Association received by the Canterbury association last evening. Only three teams. Canterbury. Otago and Southland, have entered in the South Island section of this competition. Otago and Southland will play at Invercargill, the match to be completed by July 22. Canterbury will play the winner of this match in a southern centre by August 5. The national final will be played in the North Island on August 19.
Two teams from Nelson, a senior representative side and an under-18 side, may travel to Christchurch for a match later this season. Last season Canterbury travelled to Nelson for a match. The Nelson association will be advised that either July 15 or July 29 will be available for the matches in Christchurch
Extra Teams The convener of the match committee (Mr T. C. Gottermeyer) appealed to clubs for information about the possibility of their entering further teams in the competitions. In the last few weeks several clubs, including Nomads. Shamrock. Neerlandia, and Burnham had intimated that they had enough players to form another team, said Mr Gottermeyer, and if sufficient entries were gained hl* committee could set up a sixth division at the end of the tint round.
Mr Gottermeyer also said that a commentary on the match between the touring English side and Auckland, to be played this afternoon in Auckland, would be broadcast over station* IYC
