June 10 Bernard Hunt, a British Ryder Cup international rolled in a 12ft putt on the last green to win the £lOOO first prize in the Oaks professional golf tournament at Wentworth. Surrey.. today. The putt gave him a final round ot 88 for a 72-hole aggregate of 27J1—one stroke bc‘ier than N. Colea Coles came “from out ot the blue" on the last round to take the £5OO second nrize. Aftor three rounds he was well down the list, but he came home with a brilliant 67 to total 280 The two Wen-worth club professionals. B. Bamford and T. Haliburton. who had set the pace on the first two rounds, had to be content with third and fourth pla-es respectively Bamford finished with 281 and Haliburton 282 AU New Zealand and Australian competitors had been eliminated after the second round. The Rest round by a New Zealander wax that of E. A Snutherden. who hit a 75 on the west course for a total of 151. M Busk had a better round on the east course with a 71. but finished with 15? for th n two rounds. R Charles hr»d a tworound total of 156 after a 76 on the west course today.
