SOCIAL CREDIT LEAGUE
Maori Member Resigns (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. June 2. Mr H. T. Reedy, Social Credit candidate for Eastern Maori at the last General Election, has resigned from the Social Credit Political Lergue. In his notice to the league, Mr Reedy explained his decii sian as follows: “Prior to the 'last General Election I was, as head of the Maori group ! within the league, promised radio-speaking time to broad- : cast the Maori policy. When ! the time came I was refused and no reason was given. . “It was during my second ! unsuccessful telephone inter- . view with Mr Mathews over ' this matter that I assured him that by adopting such an attitude the league, in my opinion, would be sowing the I seeds of its own destruction j in the Maori political world. jOf all the political groups in . this country, Social Credit ! alone has not permitted its I Maori representative speakpng time on the air. i “It was on this ground that j immediately after the General Election I handed my (resignation to the Maori comimittee, but it was held up by that body for further conI sideration.”
