Wool Shipments Down 13 p.c. This Season
Shipments of wool from New Zealand this season are running well behind last season’s figures. In the eight months ended February, 1961. 829.260 bales were entered for exports. This is a drop of 118,155 bales, or 12.5 her cent., on the comparable 1959-60 figure. The United States is the only main purchaser of wool which has taken more this 5ea50n—125.794 bales, compared with 113.870 in the same eight months of 1959-60 The United States share of New Zealand exports is 15.1 per cent, to date this season.

The European Economic Community countries accounted for 296,513 bales of this season's total, or 35.8 per cent, (compared with 35.6 per cent for the same period of 1959-60); the United King dom 271,599 bales or 32.8 per cent. (37.0 per cent.); and the Communist countries 44.487 bales or 5.4 per cent. <B.O per cent.). February shipments this year were down trom 216.665 bales last year to 143.952 bales. January shipments this year were 131,340 bales.
