QUESTION: I halt a perfect pattern on my set but halt to alter every day the vertical and horizontal controls to ensure this. Should this be necessary? —"Viewer." Halswcll. ANSWER: Provided the Controls are not being attend between viewings, there should be no need for the constant adjustment you mention. More detailed information about your set would enable us to be more specific. However. u’C suggest that you arc not getting sufficient synchronisation signal and that it is being suppressed somewhere within the set. Another reason may be that the AGC control in the back of the set requires adjustment.
QUESTION: / live in Islington and have been told that a certain make of set is most suited for this area. Is this correct? —"G. R..“ Islington. ANSWER: No. it is not correct. All makes will work in areas where there is reasonable signal strength. In very weak signal areas only the best sets will perform satisfactorily and most manufacturers make what is
known as fringe sets to cover these areas. In Islington the signal strength is quite high and you should have no worries about inferior reception, no matter what set you decide to purchase.
