INSURGENTS IN ANGOLA
Africans Flee From Homes
(N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LUANDA (Angola) May 25. About 50 armed men forced some 1800 Africans to flee from their homes in the Portuguese enclave of Cabinda, north of Angola, according to reports reaching Luanda from Cabinda during the night. Refugees reaching the Cabinda town of Belize, near the (former French) Congo Republic, said the attackers ordered villagers in the Luali area to leave Cabinda under threat, of “death or terrible mutilation.” The reports said that one man reached a frontier post with both ears cut off. Meanwhile, troops have relieved a group of Protestant missionaries surrounded by insurgents near Buco Zan, Northern Angola. The Portuguese news agency, Lusitania, reported that one soldier was killed and another soldier and several civilians injured when a patrol was attacked near Damba by insurgents armed with automatic weapons.
