10,000th BABY AT ST. HELENS
First Birth In 1952

The first child of Mrs Helena Lambert, of Christchurch, the baby was a boy weighing 31b 9oz, a premature birth. Assisting at the birth were Dr. L. C. L. Averill, Dr. R. Moon, and Sister E. R. Nelson. Before this announcement could be made records had had to be thoroughly checked, said the matron of the hospital (Miss T. N. Hughes) yesterday. From these records it was found that the first child to be born at the hospital was Michael Bradford Jefferies on July 7, 1952. It is believed that several city firms have promised gifts to the ten thousandth baby to be born at the hospital, but nothing had beer, reported to date. Miss Hughes said.
