J. Mortimore, the Gloucestershire off-spinner has been chosen to replace R. Illingworth, the Yorkshire allrounder. for M.C.C. against the Australians at Lord’s on Saturday. Illingworth injured a finger in the Yorkshire v. Hampshire match at Leeds today and has had to withdraw. Mortimore. who was flown out to join the M.C.C. in Australia in 1958-59 as a late replacement, is the second change in the original M.C.C. side. C. Cowdrey took over the captaincy yesterday after T. Dexter withdrew because of injury.
