Meeting With Minister

The Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) has advised the City Council that be will meet a deputation at the Christchurch airport at 2 pm. next Friday to hear, the case for the use of the airport by pure jet aircraft.! Cr. A. R Guthrey, chair-* man of the council’s airport committee, said yesterday that the deputation would consist of the committee, and representatives of the Canterbury Chamber of Com* mere, Canterbury Progress League, and South Island Publicity Association who had been associated with the council in an approach to the Minister in February. Invitations would also be sent to representatives of organisations which had spoken at the recent protest meeting and to Mr S. B. Barltrop, who organised the protect meeting and support throughout the South Island for-the use of the airport by jets. The Minister sent the council a telegram, advising that he had fixed the time for the deputation.
