N.Z. STAMPS FOR REFUGEES
British Organiser’s Thanks Thanks for large quantities of used stamps sent by Canterbury readers of ‘The Press” to a Manchester address for dispatch to members of European refugee camps have been received from the organiser of the appeal. Mr H. Barrodale. Mr Barrodale says that, as a result of an article which appeared some months ago. he has recently been receiving considerable numbers of New Zealand stamps, but mainly from the Christchurch area.
Members of the European camps concerned with the sorting and selling of the stamps have particularly noted the greater proportion of stamps from the Dominion arriving in recent months. These are generally of more value than stamps from European countries in stamp markets, he says. Mr Barrodale ends his letter by asking that more readers interested in sending New Zealand stamps for this purpose forward them to his address at 6 Alness road, Whalley Range, Manchester 16, England.
