BOARD’S MINUTE BOOK

Not Fully Open To Inspection (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, May 22.

The complete Whangarei Harbour Board minute book will not be ripen to public inspection in future, the board decided at today’s meeting. The chairman (Mr R. K. Trimmer) said this had become necessary because the board was entering into a number of negotiations with private firms. He thought that it would be hardly fair to the companies concerned if their private business was published. Open Meeting Only In future, only the minutes of the board in open meeting will be open to inspection. When the board is in committee or a committee of the board meets, the minutes will be recorded in a committee minute book which will not be open for inspection by the public. All minutes of the board in committee or a committee of the board will be confirmed either by the board in committee, or by the appropriate committee of the board.
