The Rt. Rev. R. O. Hall, the Anglican Bishop of Hong Kong, will arrive in New Zealand on June 10 and will speak at various functions throughout the country.—(P.A.) Professor H. Bloom, formerly of Auckland University and now professor of chemistry at Hobart has been granted the .Hector Award today by the council of the Royal Society of New Zealand. Valued at £5O. the award was granted for research in the physical chemistry of molten salts.—(P.A.) The Rev. Bennett Williams, a former Ashburton man who has been a missionary for the African Inland Mission in the Congo for the last 20 years, is visiting Christchurch. He will give addresses at the Trinity Congregational and Colombo Street Baptist Churches during services tomorrow.
Mr P. B. Marshall, general manager of the Dairy Products Marketing Commission, accompanied by Mr C. Patrick. manager of the commission’s economics and products division, will leave today for the United States ant Britain. They will return to New Zealand at the end of June.—(PA.) Mr F. E. Studt has been appointed officer in charge of the Information Bureau of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He replaces Mr N. A. Morris, who retired last month because of ill-health.
Mr W. Hay has been appointed deputy-managing director of the State Advances Corporation. Mr W. Doran has been appointed a member of the Workers' Compensation Board on the nomination of the Council of Fire and Accident Underwriters' Associations.
Mr A. Fazackerlcy, of Islington. has been reappointed the Government's representative on the Egg Marketing Authority and the Poultry Board, from June 1.
Messrs S. Chandler, J Hayward, J. R Hewitt. M G. White, and O. H. T. Williams have beep appointed the Robinsons Bay Domain Board.
