KNOX MOTHERS’ MEETING

Jubilee Celebrated Yesterday

The golden jubilee of the Knox Mothers’ Meeting was celebrated yesterday, and was attended by 90 past and present members. Reminiscences of the group’s early days, including the encouragement found in sharing problems in times of trouble, were given by members. The Rev. Malcolm Wilson gave a talk on the word “jubilee” and emphasised the meaning, of rest, forgiveness, rejoicing and thanksgiving as found in the ancient Hebrew jubilee year. Tributes were paid to Sister Annie Cook, who founded the organisation, and others who had assisted Many members spoke of the outstanding service given by Sister Agnes McMillan, who had been the mainspring of the group for more than 40 years, a report from the jubilee meeting said. A musical programme included vocal solos and a duet as well as items by the Knox Mothers’ Meeting choir.
