“STAY-AT-HOME” CAMP
Girls Entertained By Y.W.C.A.
The thanks of 50 Christchurch mothers have gone out to the Young Women’s Christian Association these holidays. Nearly 50 girls between the ages of nine and 13 years have been enter, tained this week at a “stay-at-home” camp run by the Y.W.CA.
The girls live at home, but come in to the club-rooms each day for a programme of devotions, crafts, singing, films, Scottish dancing and games.
“This crowd seems very energetic, so we have had lots of games,” said the general secretary of the Y.W.C.A. (Miss B. J. Hardie) yesterday. The girls visited a Christchurch factory one day, and yesterday they spent the day at Spencerville camp. The stay-at-home camp will close with an exhibition of hand, crafts and a concert this afternoon. "I have already had several messages of thanks from n.others,” said Miss Hardie. “We run a camp like this every May and August holidays. and the grils all enjoy it very much.”
