Race Intervals To Be Shortened
Wingatui patrons w-ill not have to wait so long for the Otago Steeplechase winner to finish the course this year.
The distance of the race has been reduced from three miles to two and a-half miles, restoring the position as it was for several years up to 1955.
The only difference is that they raced for £l5OO in those days. This year the race is worth £6OO.
The Dunedin Jockey Club also intends to shorten intervals between races at its winter meeting this year. The first race will be at 11.15 ajn. and the last at 4.10 p.m.
