SCOOTERS IN BRITAIN
Youths Biggest Buyers
(Special Crspdt N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON. May 7. Young Britons, mostly between the ages of 18 and 23, have become the biggest buyers of scooters in Europe, says the “Daily Mirror.” By the end of the year it is estimated there will be about 750.000 scooters on British roads.
Since the beginning of 1957 three scooters have been put on the road for every two motor-cycles, and if the trend continues at the same rate in four or five years there will be as many scooters as motor cycles. Most big motor cycle firms are now in the scooter business.
