EDUCATION IN NEW GUINEA
Dutch “Crash Programme” (N Z.P A.-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, May 8. The Netherlands Ambassador in Australia (Mr J. G. de Beusi said last night that the Dutch had started a “crash programme” to educate West New Guinea natives for self-determina-tion. Asked if the Dutch could resist an all-out attack on West New Guinea unless they could use Australia as a supply base Mr de Beus replied: "Whether Australian bases would be necessary for our defence I don't think has ever been considered.”
