Rugby Union Council
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, May 8.
The New Zealand Rugby Union did not initiate remits to the International Rugby Board seeking a re-allocation of points for the try and penalty.
This was made clear at today's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union executive council. Mr J. N. Millard said there had been criticism of the NewZealand union by some administrators when messages from overseas indicated that the move had come from this country. The chairman, Mr C. S. Hogg, who was also chairman of the International Rugby Board conference this year, said that the move was made in 1959 by Australia, and this year by Australia and Wales.
The New Zealand Rugby Union representatives to travel with the French touring team were appointed at today’s meeting of the council. They are: July 2-July 22. Mr M. S. Ingpen (Wellington); July 22-August 5, Mr W. A. Craddock (Buller); August 5-August 20. Mr D. K. Ross (North Auckland).
