SOUTH AFRICAN TRADE
Increase Sought By Mission To N.Z.
A South African trade mission will visit Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch next week to explore the possibility of increasing two-way trade between South Africa and New Zealand. The mission, which is also .seeking to attract capital and industry to South Africa, is not empowered to conclude contracts Or negotiate agreements on behalf of the Union or private interests. The party comprises two businessmen and a senior officer of the Department of Commerce and Industries in Pretoria. The leader of the party is Mr I. G. Fleming, a former president of the South African Federated Chamber of Industries, a director of the Reserve Bank, and a director of the South African Iron and Steel Corporation. Mr F. W. Waring, a former member of Parliament, is managing director of a ffirm of grain and produce brokers and im-port-export agents The adviser to the ntission is Mr E. D. Andrews, director of export promotion of the Department of Commerce and Industries. ' . Mrs Fleming and Mrs Warihg are accompanying their husbands. New Zealand businessmen interested in discussing trade or investment with the mission will be able to make anpnintments through the offices of the Department of Industries and Commerce, in Auckland. Wellington or Christchurch.
