PROTECTION OF BIRDS

A new plaque issued by the Wildlife Branch of the Department o f Internal Affairs was shown to a meeting of the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board yesterThe plaque is of aluminium. with a white background and a design and printing in royal blue. In the centre is a white heron in flight. Below the design is a quotation from King George VI, which reads:— ■The wildlife of today is not ours to dispose of as we please. We have It in trust. We must account for it to those who come after." The board decided to ask for 12 of the plaques.
