N.Z. BEER SELLS IN U.S.

Further Markets Sought New Zealand beer is now on sale in several bars in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and the World Trade Club. San Francisco. It is also being sold in several food stores at prices comparable with other imported beers. The firm selling it is one of the largest IV-xl retailers in America with more than 2000 stores in California, Nevada and Arizona.

Mr J. B. Barry, of Auckland, was responsible for promoting this export business. In 1959, when he was overseas on a business trip, he watched for opportunities to sell New Zealand goods of all kinds. He was impressed with the wide distribution of continental beers throughout the world and decided that New Zealand beer could also sell overseas. After a further trip to America last year, his efforts were rewarded.

The first four shipments for San Francisco arrived last October.

Shipments have also been made to Fiji and Hawaii, and through an agency in Hawaii, it is expected to extend sales to Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Guam, Okinawa. Formosa, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
