CHAMPIONSHIPS POSTPONED

Strong Northerly At Wellington j (NJ). Press Assoctatton) WELLINGTON, March 31. A strong northerly gusting across Wellington harbour today caused the postponement ot the first of two national yachting championships. At Marital, the first race of the national Cherub championships was postponed to save the light craft from possible damage in the high winds and turbulent seas. The Auckland skipper, L. Allchlson. In his yacht Sapphire 11, went out to try the strength of the wind. He ended a weaving run by capsizing in a cloud I of spray. The wind was too strong at Evans Bay for young Canterbury and Auckland yachtsmen visiting Wellington for the first championships of the new junior Cherub championships. The first championship race was postponed until 9 am. tomorrow.
