5000-YEAR-OLD RELICS

Archaeologists'* Findings JERUSALEM, March 26 An archaeological expedition working in the Judean desert, Israel, has found 439 bronze and ivory objects dating back 5000 years in a cave. The expedition, under Professor Yigael Yadin, found the hoard wrapped in matting and buried 74 feet under a large stone. It included bronze mace heads, bronze chisels and hammers, and small jugs. In Amman, archaeologists have found a Roman cemetery with tombs dating back to the second century. Among oil lamps and glass objects uncovered was a copper coin, first of its kind ever found. On one side it bore the head of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (A.D. 161) and on the other Tyche. the Greek goddess of fortune, with the Amman citadel on her head.
