PRIZE-WINNING NOVELS

Publication By London Firm (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 21. Collins. Sons, and Company, Ltd., London, has accepted for publication both the prize-winners in the “Otago Daily Times” centenary novel competition. Errol Braithwaite’s “An Affair of Men,” the £350 winner, and Pat Booth’s “Long Night Among the Stars,” will thus have a circulation throughout the Commonwealth. The New Zealand edition of the former is expected late this year. The chairman of the English firm, Mr W. A. R. Collins. who read the manuscripts himself, comments that they are far above the standard that one usually gets from prize competitions, and much better than any recent work the publishers have had from Australia.
