PROPOSITION TO GOVT.

Mr McAlpine’s Comment (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, March 21. “Mr Ansett put his proposition to me. I listened to him patiently,” said the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) tonight. “He approached me when I was in Australia with the same proposition. I knocked it back. Now he has given me details of the proposal. The Government will, of course, consider it,” Mr McAlpine added. Mr R. M. Ansett, managingdirector of Ansett Airways, was unable to see the ActingPrime Minister (Mr Marshall) today. It is understood he telephoned for an appointment from Auckland yesterday. but Mr Marshall’s engagement book was full. This afternoon Mr Ansett saw the Minister of Island Territories (Mr Gotz). It is understood that the matters discussed included a proposal for an air service to island territories. Mr Ansett also wanted to see the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) this afternoon, but it is understood Mr Shand was engaged all day with the Administration Committee of the Cabinet and with the Public Service reform consultant, Sir William Dunk.
