Yesterdav was the hottest day in Christchurch since February 26. The temperature in the Botanic Gardens reached 85.1 degrees between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., and the meteorological office at Harewood recorded 82 3 degrees at 3 p.m. Qn February 26 a temoerature of 84.2 degrees was recorded at the airport The hottest day this year was February 1 when the temperature reached 87.3 degrees At noon yesterday the temnerature at the airport was 78 degrees, and it rose to 81.8 degrees at 2 i>.tn. By 4 n.m. it had dropped to 80 degrees.

The temperature in the Botanic Gardens rose from 80 degrees at midday to the maximum and dropped to 82.1 decrees at 3 p.m. On March 21 last year 14 points of rain were recorded and the temperature at the airport waS 85.1 degrees.
