4th Birthday Party Many visitors were welcomed at the fourth birthday party of the Lyttelton Country Women’s Institute, j Each member subscribed Is: towards a parcel for a sponsored Greek girl. Mrs D. Newton presented trophies won during the year. The Ruby Green rose bowl for most points was won by Mrs H. L. Herdman, and the Mary Ings silver vase memorial for the best blooms was won by Mrs R. Ulingsworth. During the afternoon Mrs R. K. Duckworth spoke on her visit to Ridge, the link institute in England, and on her experiences overseas. A sketch was presented by the drama circle. Plunket Society Market— A market held recently by the Christchurch Plunket Society raised £335 for the Karitane Hospital building fund. Home-made cakes, poultry, jams and preserves were supplied by country branches. Karitane nurses wrapped and sold mystery parcels, and the Malvern branch provided food for a country dinner for a raffle.
