CHILDREN’S HOME
Cholmondeley Report
An expanding subscriber list and a very successful street day appeal were mentioned in the annual report of the Cholomondeiey Memorial Children’s Home. But greater and more modern laundry facilities are urgently required at the home. The present facilities are no greater than that of an ordinary family home, says the report. In spite of the improved financial position, the home still had to economise on expenditure and essential maintenance projects had to be kept to a minimum. Two major items still have to be faced, the painting of the building and the installation of a sewer purification plant The report says considerable progress was made during the year in publicising the objects and the work of the home. Admissions have increased and these now come almost exclusively through doctors and welfare organisations.
There were 269 admissions during the year 1959-1960 and these were for parents’ illness or fatigue, child’s illness, maternity and for emergencies and cases of environment.
