Post Office Pens

Ball-point pens tn the Christchurch Post Office would in future be tied to the desks, said a Post Office spokesman yesterday. He said that originally the pens had been put out untied because it was thought to be a more convenient arrangement for customers. H' wever. as losses had been greater than expected and it was inconvenient for persons to find no pen on the desk they would be secured to the desk. The board’s revenue was £21.67m made up as follows:—Petrol tax. £ 15.25 m; milage tax, £.39m: motor vehicle registration, £2.31m; heavy traffic licence fees, £2.49m; tyre tax (customs tax), £.o3m. The contribution by the Government from the Consolidated Fund was £ 1.20m.—F.0.0.R.
