DUNEDIN. March Although there was a slight easing for some lines, better style fine wools were fully firm on Wednesday’s rates at the second day of the Dunedin wool sale today. Merinos, half breds. and fine crossbreds were all firm on the rates realised on the first day. The medium and coarse crossbreds were slightly easier by perhaps a id. Average to inferior styles of wools were also slightly easier, but the prices for oddments and pieces were firm. There was a small percentage of passings, but they were generally infrequent As on the first day of the sale, buying was well spread witl. Continental buyers well to the fore. The New Zealand Wool Commission again stimulated the market by bidding for some of the poorer style fine wools. 126416 Bales The offering consisted of four catalogues totalling 26.516 bales Combined with the 25.938 sold on Wednesday this constitutes a record number of 52,454 bales for any Dunedin sale. The official report says a full bench of buyers assembled to compete for the 26.516 bales As the sale proceeded it was obvious that buyers’ limits were slightly reduced on medium and coarse crossbreds Continental buying again dominated while Bradford took a fair share of the offering. Japanese interest was mainly in the Southdown lots The United States operated on the coarser types, while local mills again gave support on the. finer wools The New Zealand Wool Commission’s bidding helped to stabilise the market for finer wools, especially the Merinos Range of Prices The official range of prices is as follows: —
