Stewart’s Gully Events
Although unplaced in the final race for the committee cup sailed at Stewart s Gully yesterday. the Idlealong yacht Gwen-a-lyn (Doug Mclntodi) had enough points in hand from the first two races to win the series. < Yesterdav’s race was won by the R class dinghy Tranquil (G - Lance) from scratch. The second boat home was Don Mclntosh’s * Cupid. ’ The second race for the Demp- * sey Cup (P class) was won by • Conquest (M Agnew). • Agnew showed marked improvement in helmsmanship to take exactly the same time over the course as the club’s repre- * sentative in the national contest * for the Tauranga Cup—W Parn- « ham. in Revenge Derene (R • Dempsey) took half a minute longer over the course than the • first two placed competitors. The third and final open race for the Lance Cup was won by L C. Holland's Whisper, which also « took the trophy. Gwen-a-lyn (Doug. Mclntosh) was second in yesterday's race, but third in the series to J ' Stead's Steady.
