Woman Dies Later (N.Z Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb 10. After being rescued unconscious from her burning home at 17 Sanders avenue. New Plymouth, this evening an elderly widow died on the way to the New Plymouth Hospital by ambulance She was Blanche Stuart Halcombe, who had been living alone for 40 years or more. After receiving the alarm at 8.40 p.m.. firemen were on the scene quickly, but they did not know in which room to look for Mrs Halcombe. Two men wearing breathins apparatus happened on the right window, opened it and She was breathing when they found Mrs Halcombe inside, carried her out, and artificial respiration was applied for about 20 minutes.
