Vibrations
Sir,—Lord Cobham, opening the B.M.A. conference, showed understanding of those who suffer from the effects of sound "vibration.” He is unable to stay in the room if a child scrapes its fingers across a toy balloon. “It does to my ears what a dentist’s drill does to my teeth.” he told the gathering of medical men. Would he not be the first to sympathise with rather than ignore, as do town planners and other authorities, the right of human beings to live in home quiet, not at the mercy of metal-filing and grating, machine-whining and rattling, sawing, sharpening, etc?—Yours, etc.. GRATEFUL. Feb. 7, 1961.
