Struck By Car On Christmas Eve An elderly man died in the Christchurch Hospital at 10 a.m. on December 31 from injuries suffered when he and another pedestrian were struck by a car in Cranford street, 200 yards north of Westminster street, at 10.25 p.m. on Christmas Eve. He was: Leslie Cooper Walker, retired, of 178 Knowles street, St Albans. Mr Walker was admitted to hospital unconscious, and suffering from head and leg injuries and shock. He did not regain consciousness. The other pedestrian with Mr Walker, Frank Haywood, of 158 Cranford street, St. Albans, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital after the accident with head and internal injuries. His condition was described yesterday as comfortable.
