Mother Unable To Clear Obstruction (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, January 2. A young child choked and died in front of her mother in the sitting room of their home at Tariki on Saturday afternoon. She was: Marilyn Sue Karalus, aged 5. youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. W. Karalus, of Tariki road. She was blowing up a toy seal when the stopper lodged in her throat. Her mother was unable to remove it and she was rushed to a doctor at Inglewood, but was dead on arrival. The doctor removed the stopper and applied artificial respiration, but the child did not respond.
