Queensland Drought Relieved

Drenching rain has continued to fall in a wide area of droughtstricken central and northwestern Queensland giving some properties their best falls for four years. Falls of up to Ilin on Sunday night and early yesterday caused local flooding in some areas. Rain was still falling over a wide area, and more is forecast. At Kynuma, 1020 points fell between Sunday night and early yesterday, giving a total - of 11.5 in since Saturday. At Boulia, in the far west, there were falls totalling over 4in since the week-end. Some graziers said it was their best December rain for 30 years.
