WATER SKI-ING RULES

Holidaymakers Urged To Take Care "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, December 27. The president of the New Zealand Water Ski Association (Mr J. Farrelly) has advised holidaymakers to acquaint themselves with local regulations before beginning water ski-ing. “There are thousands out this year enjoying water skiing and unless all aquatic sports work in harmony our beaches and lake resorts could become dangerous,” he said. Mr Farrelly said that most beaches and lake resorts had recognised ski lanes. Local ski clubs had undertaken to buoy and control the lanes and had appointed wardens. Ski-ing in all lanes had to be anti-clock-wise. Boat owners should also check to see their craft contained adequate lifejackets and fire extinguishers, said Mr Farrelly. “Water ski-ing is completely safe for all ages of the family," he said, “but persons must take care and obey the simple rules.”
