Masefield Shield Match A good first Innings win was gained by Malvern in its Masefield Shield representative cricket match against Banks Peninsula, played at Kirwee yesterday. Malvern batted first and declared with six wickets down for 255. Banks Peninsula was all out for 245. Although well down the batting list D Gunn played well to score 67 not out B Ridgen also batted well to score 46 before being caught by B. Turner off the bowling of T. Templeton Other good scores were made by J Blewitt (42) and A. Wright (39) The best of the Banks Peninsula bowlers was P. Johnston, who took four wickets for 51 off 15 overs Templeton and K Howarth each took a wicket N Allen was top scorer for Banks Peninsula with a creditable 52. He was clean bowled by A. Wright D McPhail played a good innings before he was caught by A Wright off the bowling of Blewitt. An excellent last-wicket stand for 49 runs was made by P Johnston and T. Templeton R Irvine and A Wright bowled well for Malvern taking three wickets for 50 and four for 47 respectively D. Deans. Blewitt, and R. Stuart took one wicket each.
