A Well-Warmed Building
The building is heated by an oil-fired low pressure hot water system. There are cast iron radiators in all offices and in some larger offices there are warm air convector heaters. The boilerhouse is below ground level. The basement is ventilated by forced draught The exhaust vents are unobtrusive boxes set in the outside wall of the show windows on the ground floor. More than 32,000 cubic feet of material was excavated to form the basement.
