Christmas Parties
Sir, —I read with approval your leading article this morning entitled “Drinking at Parties,” and I endorse your criticism of the impression so often given to young people attending office parties that drinking is the “right thing to do.” Further, one cannot say strongly enough that the absence of non-alcoholic drinks at such gatherings or at any party is sheer bad manners. Your leader, like the churches’ statement on this question, was in itself an example of common sense and moderation.—Yours, etc., PAUL GODDARD. December 7, 1960.
