Noise
Sir, —“Noise is an appalling nuisance for everylbody, but it is deeply serious for me as I have my living to earn.” says Dame Edith Sitwell. She is afraid “they may have soon a pauper lunatic on their hands.” Do authorities know how many lunatics they have on their hands from noise? Only when a prominent person complains is record made public. Perhaps the noise abatement society will have the backing in future of a new prominent member in defence of quiet and sanity for housewives, as for authors resting or working in cities. —Yours, etc., EQUALITY.
