REVALUATION OF COUNTIES
Waimairi Shows Biggest Rise
The total value of Waimairi County, as assessed by the Government Valuation Department, has risen by about 68 per cent, over the last five years. The value of rateable and unrateable properties combined is now £44,218,625, compared with £26,323,600 in 1955. The value of non-rateable properties totals £4,328,300. Unimproved values are set at £15,836.080 and improvements £28.382.545. The new valuations will be used in rate assessments as from April 1 next year.
Halswell is another recentlyrevalued county which shows a big increase in valuation since 1955. The rise in this case is about 46 per cent. The new figure is £4,065,490, compared with £2,772,755 five years ago. The assessment comprises £2,207,060 in unimproved value and £1,858,430 in improvements. The predominantly rural counties now revalued, Amuri, Tawera, and Springs, all show rises, though these are not so spectacular as for those with large suburban developments. Spring’s County’s valuation has increased by 36 per cent, since 1955, Amuri’s by 21 per cent., and Tawera’s by 12 per cent. The figures are.—Springs: total, £4,544,355 (£3,348.555 in 1955); unimproved, £1,993,425; improvements, £2,550.930. Amuri: total £6,483,890. (£5,366,730 in 1955); unimproved, £ 2.605,600; improvements, £3,878,290. Tawera: total. £1,015.050 (£905,050 in 1955); unimproved, £459,625; improvements, £555,425.
