CUSTOMS RAID ON SHIP

Goods Found At Auckland

(Wew Zealand Press Association; AUCKLAND, December 5.

A substantial quantity of manufactured goods has been discovered in customs raids on the Union Steam Ship Company's freighter, Kaimiro. It is understood that the goods included handbags and plastics, and were from foreign sources, mostly Japan. The Kaimiro berthed on Saturday morning. She had come from Sydney with a cargo of wheat, and is due to sail for Australian ports on Wednesday. The investigations began on Saturday, and four officers carried out a search, which they concluded today. The goods were found in food storage lockers, and were described as “quite a valuable consignment.” They were articles not normally manufactured in New Zealand.
