SIXTH FORM TEACHERS
Position At B.H.S. “Satisfactory”
A recommendation from the Commission on Education that, where necessary, schools should pool their sixth form teaching staff would not apply to Christchurch Boys’ High School, said the headmaster (Mr C. F. S Caldwell) at a meeting of theh Board of Governors. The staffing position for sixth form teachers was satisfactory and there would be no need to ask for the services of specialist teachers from other schools. “We have been fortunate that we have only lost two of our staff for the new year." said Dr. T. R. Anderson. The cost of repairing the damage done the hostel laundry by a recent fire would be £2482, said Mr C. H. McPhail (chairman of the hostel committee). It was decided to ask the Education Department for a grant to cover the cost of the repairs and some improvements to the hostel rooms. If the department 'would not grant sufficient to cover the cost it was decided to ask the school for a loan.
