French Nun May Be Held Saint

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. November 20.

Claims that a French nun who died in Britain 67 years ago performs miracles for persons praying to her are being examined by a Vatican tribunal.

If the claims are approved she may be declared a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. the “Sunday Express” reported. The nun was Euphrasie Barbier, the daughter of a Normandy cobbler.

Before she died at 64. she founded the Order of Missionary Nuns which today has more than 100 convents in 15 countries—including Australia and New Zealand, the newspaper said. Her qualifications for sainthood were being put forward in Britain by a priest at Beacon Hill. Surrey. Father Leonard Whatmore. Father Whatmore had prepared a report on Euphrasie's life which the Vatican tribunal was examining.
