WOOL SALE AT NAPIER

Good Competition On Second Day

(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, Nov. 21.

The second day of the Napier wool sale today opened briskly with good competition from a wide section of the trade, says the official report The report added that the Continent were the principal buyers, with limited competition from Bradford and support from Japan and America on specialty Wools. Hie wools, which were drawn from all parts of Hawke’s Bay, and the Gisborne, East Coast areas, were very similar to those offered on the first day. There were many well-grown lines of hogget and ewe wool and although dust was a little less evident than some past seasons, some lots were showing slight discolouration due to wet seasonal conditions. This discolouration was more noticeable in piece oddments and bellies. There was a good offering of paper felts and these brought prices between 49d and 56d, the finer qualities 50/56s bringing the higher premium. The market opened with hogget wools of 52’s quality very firm while other wools were mainly unchanged from prices ruling on the first day, but as the selling progressed tended to harden against the buyer.
