KENNEDY’S CABINET

Meetings With Two Senators

PALM BEACH (Florida),

November 20.

The president-elect, Mr John Kennedy, held conferences with two Senators at his holiday home today before tackling a series of big decisions on setting up his new Administration.

Mr Kennedy planned to meet at length tomorrow and possibly on Tuesday with Mr Clark Clifford, his deputy assigned to work with the White House in easing the change from one Administration to another. United Press International reported. Today, Mr Kennedy attended church and held further talks with Senator Stuart Symington (Democrat, Missouri) on reorganisation of the Defence Department. He also talked with Senator George A. Smathers (Democrat, Florida), who arrived with Senator Symington yesterday for a week-end with Mr Kennedy. Mr Kennedy’s acting press secretary, Mr Donald Wilson, said the President-elect discussed Latin American problems with Senator Smathers, who has centred much of his interest in this field.
