MINOR FIRES

A fire in a settee at 12 Bevin place, in a house owned by Mr R. Dixon, caused slight damage yesterday. One unit from St. Albans attended. One unit from New Brighton attended a grass fire at 100 Oram avenue, on property owned by Mr F. Gibson, at 5.2 pun. yesterday. No damage was caused. A chimney fire at 5 Sydney street, on property owned by Mrs A M. Sly. caused no damage. One unit from Sydenham attended.

Lord Dnnrossil Improved.— The Governor-Genera! of Australia 'Viscount Dunrossil). who has been in hospital for two weeks, is much improved. A Government House announcement today said he was not expected to leave hospital before the arranged period of three weeks expired next Thursday—Canberra. November 18. x
